Sleeping & bedding
Individually adapted nursing and therapy beds are especially important for children with disabilities. They enable them to move safely and without the risk of injury at night, are often wider, height-adjustable, and provided with pads and side rails. Special mattresses to provide pressure relief (decubitus) and undisturbed sleep are also available. Bedding aids are products used to bring individual body parts into therapeutically effective positions and hold them there in order to alleviate pain, prevent and/or treat damage to joints, contractures and muscle spasms. Although there are off-the-shelf pillows and wedges, for children these items will usually be individually adapted by your health supply store.
